For those looking to get even more space on their toolbar or simply don’t care for the Firefox Throbber, here is an easy way to remove it.

Note: You will need the ChromEdit Plus extension

  1. From Firefox Tools Menu Select ChromEdit Plus then ChromEdit from the submenu or click the ChromEdit button
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the document
  3. Copy and paste the following:
    #throbber-box {
    display: none !important;
    }
  4. Click the ‘Restart Firefox’ button.
  5. The Throbber will be gone after the restart

  1. Daniel says:

    throbber sounds so vulgar.

  2. Well, now that you mention it…

  3. LouCypher says:

    The easiest way is to click View -> Toolbars -> Customize…, and drag the throbber to Customize Toolbar window.

  4. I thought that would work as well, but apparently with the new theme in 2.0 you can do this.

  5. Modify Tabs says:

    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\chrome\classic.jar

    Open classic.jar delete 2 instances of loading_16.png and delete all image files containing the word “throbber.”

    …NO MORE throbber on the tabs.
