Do Not Track & LinkSys Router Admin
I discovered an odd glitch when trying to access LinkSys Router Admin interface via Firefox. I was using the correct user name and password, but I was being told my login was wrong. I was able to get in via Chrome or IE, but not Firefox. I was looking around the LinkSys forums for something else when I came across a couple of posts from other people who could not get in via Firefox. Turns out if you have the Do Not Track (Tools > Options > Privacy > Tracking [Tell websites I do not want to be tracked]) enabled, the router admin will not work in Firefox. Turning this feature off and restarting Firefox I was able to access the router admin via Firefox with no issues.

Firefox 3.6.x end of life Clarification
On the March 17th Release Update and we incorrectly stated there would be a Firefox 3.6.29 on April 24th as the final release for the Firefox 3.6.x branch. Firefox 3.6.28 released on March 13th is the final release on the Firefox 3.6.x branch. However, in the unlikely event of a chemspill update resulting in a Firefox 3.6.29 release, this in turn would be the final release. After April 24th users will need to move to Firefox 12 or Firefox 10.0.x ESR (for those who's computers do not support the requirements for Firefox 12).
Thanks to Mozilla's Daniel Veditz for the clarification.

Firefox Support Changes Coming
A warning to Firefox 3.6.x users the last release is coming on April 24 the 3.6.x branch will finally be retired. This comes over a year after Firefox 4 was released last spring and is twice as long as Mozilla normally continues to provide support of older versions after a major release. Further starting with Firefox 13 on June 5, 2012, minimum requirement for Windows will change from Windows 2000 to Windows XP SP2. For organizations or individuals who are not able to update to the newer versions of Firefox due to older hardware and/or operating systems, there is the Firefox Extended Support Release 10.0.x builds. These will continue to be supported and updated through the rest of 2012. While support for Firefox 3.6.x will be ending, the application will still be useable after April 24th. However, there will no longer be security or stability updates released.
Note: There will not a Firefox 3.6.x release on April 24th.

An article on Encryption
Been meaning to post a link to this very good article about encryption I came across towards the end of last year via a Mozilla blog. The article is well written and explains in an easy to understand way on how encryption works (and where the break down occurs).
Benlog > encryption is (mostly) not magic.

Old Default Image Style
For those of you who recently updated to Firefox 11 and have discovered the changes Mozilla has made with the way standalone images (right-clicking on an image and selecting 'view image'), here is an add-on that 'fixes' this for you. Old Default Image Style restores the Firefox 10 and older style of viewing standalone images. Even better, this add-on does not require a restart, simply install and you are ready to go instantly. Thanks to ringokaori for the tip.

Mozilla Changes Firefox Video Policy
...According to Mozilla chairman Mitchell Baker, not supporting H.264 "has not worked" and Mozilla has decided to ship a product that people should want. "Our first approach at bringing open codecs to the Web has ended up at an impasse on mobile, but we’re not done yet," Baker wrote. "We shouldn’t beat ourselves up for somehow failing to live up to Mozilla’s values. We’ll find a way around this impasse." In a much more detailed post, Eich lists the reasons why H.264 is the only option for mobile at this time and indicates that desktop may be impacted as well... Firefox and Flash bring full-fat Web to your Nokia N9
The last couple of weeks have been good for Nokia N9 owners. Following the release of software update PR1.2, a new version of the Firefox Mobile browser has been released, plus a Flash Player from Nokia that works as a plug-in to the browser.
"Firefox offers a web browsing experience that’s closer to browsing on your desktop than the built-in app. Complex, heavyweight pages render the same way they look on a full-size computer... "
